1:1 Technology Initiative at East Linn Christian

The presence of technology has become a part of our everyday lives. Everywhere you go, people are typing on laptops, text messaging on phones, and swiping through iPads. Not only does technology touch many aspects of our personal lives, but it has also become essential in both academia and the workplace. As we look at the development of this new digital landscape, our desire is to leverage the educational advantages it provides, such as collaborative learning, global awareness and increased innovation. In accordance with our vision to prepare students to serve Christ with passion, we are launching an initiative to equip students with the essential technological skills needed for the 21st century.

A team here at the Christian Academy has been researching technology initiatives taking place locally and across the United States for a few months now. They have collected valuable information regarding initiatives that provide one internet-ready device for every student. In analysing the various devices used, the team decided that Chromebooks are the best option for our school. There is a plethora of information regarding the educational value of these laptops online. In a nutshell, they provide optimum educational use at the best price. This fall, we will be piloting Chromebooks at the high school level.

We are surveying families to collect information regarding purchasing options. The survey includes two components: a multiple choice finance section and a fill in the blank comments/questions section. If you have a student currently in high school, or a student entering 9th grade, it is essential that you take a few moments to fill out the survey. Click here to get started. Thank you for your feedback!
