8th Grade Promotion is a time of blessing, reflection, and rejoicing for parents, families, and teachers. Here at East Linn Christian Academy, the faculty and staff use it as an opportunity to challenge the graduating 8th grade students toward their next four years of high school classes. This formal occasion is an opportunity to dress up, march to the music of Pomp and Circumstance, share talents blessed by God, and hear speeches from the class valedictorian, the class salutatorian, and an adult speaker chosen by the students.

For many of the students, the carrot at the end of the evening is the refreshment time used to socialize with family and friends while looking forward to the traditional next-day class party. Parents become involved in many ways, not the least being the 'shot in the arm' at home. As the Promotion nears, parents decorate the gym, supply refreshments, and chaperone the final class party.
